Preview: Squid Game

Even though I do enjoy the visuals we’ve received until now for Korea’s first death game drama, and I do love this poster a tiny bit more than the other two that were released, Lee Jung – Hae’s character Ki – Hoon’s perfectly cuffed Idol hair-do makes me crack up. Here he stands, already having been through a couple of hellish games – judging by his face and the people surrounding him – but his hair is still photoshoot ready. Something a la “I’m ready for my close up, just make sure these bloody wounds are popping.” One thing I am sure of though is, that Ki – Hoon would love to switch places with anyone else on this planet. As the game – that was supposed to get him out of debt – had a rather huge catch which not one of the 456 participants had been informed of: Win the game or lose your life.

While being abducted, unclothed, freshly dressed, and being transported to an unknown location might be some people’s kink, I am sure that even most of them might not be too happy when being faced with a high possibility of dying in games which rules you need to figure out first in order to avoid your certain demise. And as frequent death game viewers very well know: The further you get in the game the harder the games become. But with 45.6 billion Korean won at stake and nothing left to loose or aka there is no escape unless you noped out before the start of the game, Ki – Hoon and his fellow participants the only way is forward.

“Squid Game” is going to be released on the 17th of September 2021 on Netflix. It will be released simultaneously in multiple countries, so make sure to check your Netflix if you are interested in this. Also who else thinks that Gong Yoo’s cameo role is basically the guy in grey in the poster? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
